Project Inspiration for January kit
We’re so excited to present our January layout and craft ideas created by our fabulous Design Team members using our collection Winter Wonder by Simple Stories.
OH SO COLD SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT
Melissa crafted a cozy winter layout, starting with a diagonal striped background and light blue snowflake paper. She accented the seam with black sparkle ribbon and a playful "brrrrr" strip. She showcased her photos using a photo frame from the upgrades, adding scalloped stickers and trimmed tags for charm. The “Oh So Cold” title and scattered snowflake embellishments tied everything together for a frosty, polished design.
HELLO WINTER SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT
Melissa has had a hectic month in Indiana, working long hours and bringing work home, but she’s relieved it’s finally slowing down. Her new kitten caused some chaos by ripping every ribbon off her completed layout, but luckily, she had already photographed it. For her second layout, she used a Cricut design space circle title with a clear transparency to create a floating effect, along with “Hello Winter” Thickers, black sparkle cardstock snowflakes, and pearls from her stash. She layered coral, tan, and striped papers, adding a roughed-up edge and a punched border for dimension, with black snowflake paper tying in the title. The upgraded photo frames were a favorite, and she layered journaling on transparency over a cut-out sheet card, backed with black glitter paper. To finish it off, she tucked in tags with Stampin’ Up! ribbon, added snowflakes from the upgrades, and sprinkled in black epoxy dots—now, she’s just hoping for some warm weather up north!
Stay Warm Scrapbooking Layout
Sam absolutely loved this month's kit, which featured a winter theme but with a fresh twist on traditional colors. While it included classic blues and whites, it also had gorgeous pops of coral and green that added a unique vibrancy. Sam used the dark blue snowflake paper as a backdrop for night photos and opted for a layout that could hold plenty of pictures. She printed four photos as 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and arranged them along the bottom, accenting them with a strip of bright snowflake paper for extra pop. For variety, Sam printed two additional photos as 3" x 4" and framed them using one of the chipboard frames from the embellishment kit. To tie it all together, she added a small journaling tag cut from the multi-tag sheet and finished the layout with stickers and embellishments from the kit.
Wonder Scrapbooking Layout
Sam had fun experimenting with the bright colors in this month’s kit. She started with a base of the playful "brrr" paper and added a 10 3/4" square of plaid paper on top. To create contrast, she layered a 4" x 7 1/2" strip of coral paper over the plaid. With two similar photos to scrap—one vertical and one horizontal—Sam used the coral strip to frame the horizontal photo and a chipboard frame from the embellishment kit for the vertical one. For the title, she chose a sticker from the included sticker sheet and completed the layout with chipboard embellishments and snowflake stickers from the embellishment kit.
Wow! Wonder Scrapbooking Layout
Meggy started her layout by selecting the “Chill Out” 12x12 pattern paper from the main kit as the background. She chose a frame from the upgrade kit's frame packet, using the “Wonder” 12x12 paper to complement the design. A 4x6 photo was tucked partially under the word "wonder," with the frame angled to highlight the word while keeping the photo straight in portrait mode. To add dimension, Meggy adorned the right side of the layout with snowflake embellishment stickers from the upgrade kit by Sticko, pairing them with a sequin pack from her stash called “Happy Happy Winter” by Spiegelmom Scraps. For the left side, she incorporated wood veneer snowflakes from Shadnee on Etsy, alongside additional sequins for balance. She finished by cutting three tags from the Tag Element pattern paper: two were offset to the left of the photo, while the third was layered underneath for journaling, completing her wintery masterpiece.
Snow Cute Scrapbooking Layout
Emiley crafted a winter-themed layout showcasing snowy memories with a mix of bright and cozy elements. She used a striped black-and-coral paper as the background and layered tags tied with pink twine for journaling about the chilly day. The right side features a collage of action-packed snow-shoveling photos, framed with frosty patterned paper that ties into the layout's frosty vibe. Adorable embellishments, like the “You Are Snow Cute” tag, a bundled-up polar bear, and pops of snowflakes, add charm and texture, while the "Oh, So Cold!" banner perfectly captures the day's frosty energy.
Winter Wonderful Scrapbooking Layout
Emiley captured a perfect winter moment with her "Winter Wonderland" layout, featuring a snowy family photo framed with festive accents. She used a mix of plaid and snowflake-patterned papers to create a cozy yet frosty vibe. A pink banner highlights the photo, while layered trees, a polar bear, and delicate snowflakes add playful dimension. The right side of the layout is filled with colorful, winter-themed word strips that tell the story of snow days, sledding fun, and chilly adventures. The soft pastel palette and scattered embellishments bring warmth to this frosty scene, making it a perfect keepsake.
You Warm My Heart Scrapbooking Layout
Rebecca brought this winter wonderland to life with layers of cozy details! ❄️☕ She started with a soft, snowy background, adding stitched borders for extra texture. To make the photos pop, she matted four adorable snapshots with coordinating patterned papers and arranged them in a playful grid. The showstopper of this layout is the handmade shaker hot cocoa cart, filled with glittery sequins for a magical touch! ✨ To tie everything together, she added festive banners, florals, and winter icons from the Simple Stories “Winter Wonder” collection. Finally, a mix of playful phrases, like "BRRR" and "Hot Cocoa 50¢," completed the cozy, nostalgic vibe.
