At the same time, the coordinating stickers and embellishments add cheerful sentiments, flowers, and layered details that bring each page to life.

Project Inspiration for May Kit

We’re so excited to present our May layout and craft ideas created by our fabulous Design Team members using our My Happy Place Collection Kit by Doodlebug Double.

Adopted Scrapbooking Layout

Marci Bensing

She started this layout by building a strong base with the scalloped background, which frames everything so nicely. The photos were matted to stand out, and a large dog paw cut on the Silhouette Cameo adds the perfect playful focal point. The bold “Adopted!” title instantly draws attention, layered with fun colors and textures that match the heartwarming theme.

For the finished page, she used April’s sketch as inspiration but made it her own along the way. The mix of embellishments from the kit and extras brings everything together, while the added flowers give the layout soft dimension and charm. Popping up the center circle die cut adds depth, and the sweet little details throughout help tell the story of a very special new beginning.

Happy Days Peek-A-Boo Slider Card Layout

Leslie Turner

Leslie created a peek-a-boo slider card featuring papers and stickers from this month’s collection. Doodlebug Design never disappoints with its bright and bold colors, and the coordination of these items makes it super easy to create interactive cards! She cut the front, center, and back card base pieces from two colors of green cardstock in her stash. She cut layering panels from coordinating prints in the collection and used 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" circle punches for the apertures. She also used a circle die to cut the sentiments that are seen peeking through the apertures. She cut the back panel from white cardstock and embellished it with a strip of cardstock used on the inside. She stamped a congrats sentiment in two green inks using the rock-and-roll stamping technique, and finished
it off with some shimmer on the letters.

Tri Fold Hidden Door Fun Fold Layout

Leslie Turner

Leslie created another fun fold for us this month. This tri-fold hidden door card features papers and stickers from this month’s collection. The playful bold and bright colors really yield some amazing results when
creating projects, and the possibilities are endless! She cut the card base pieces from black cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in this month's collection. She trimmed a journaling card to use for the focal image on the front flap, semi-notched the corners, and added a couple holographic pinstripe stickers from her stash. She used more patterned paper from the collection for the inside panels as well as white cardstock for the center one, and added a variety of stickers from the sticker sheet.

Casual Shirt Card Layout

Leslie Turner

Leslie created a thank you shirt card featuring papers and stickers from this month’s collection along with a floral embellishment from the upgrades. The papers and stickers in this month’s collection are absolutely wonderful, and there is something for everybody, depending on what kind of project you want to make! This ‘casual style shirt’ card was made with Leslie’s own shirt card template and it can be dressed up or down! She cut the card base and sleeve panels from teal cardstock along with layering panels from two prints in the collection. She used clear enamel dots from her stash for the buttons, and added a sentiment sticker from the sticker sheet and a jeweled floral embellishment from the upgrades. She added a layered sentiment panel on the inside created from a journaling card in the kit. She made a
horizontal score line on the back of the card underneath the collar for it bend backwards to allow the card to
close.

Flower Pot Card Layout

Leslie Turner

Leslie created a flower pot card featuring a playful plaid print from this month’s collection and quite a few floral embellishments from the upgrades. She says the decision to add this particular card design to her line-up this month was made solely because of the floral embellishments! All of these blooms are layered on top of a
slightly smaller card that pulls up and out of the flower pot and contains an additional sentiment. She cut the card base and pull-up card from pink cardstock along with a panel of plaid paper from the collection to decorate the pot. She used a scallop edge punch to embellish the rim. She tied some green seam binding ribbon around the pot and added a sentiment sticker. She adhered a panel of white cardstock to the pull-up card. Then she had a little bit of fun layering quite a few jeweled floral embellishments in random fashion to fill up the top of the pull-up card, adding two circular pieces of acetate behind the flowers as a protective layer. She added another sentiment sticker to the pull-up
card which completed the project.

Friendship Pocket Card Layout

Leslie Turner

Leslie created a friendship pocket card from a single piece of double-sided paper in this month’s collection, along with stickers from the sticker sheet and a floral embellishment from the upgrades. She says the pocket card is one of the easiest fun folds to make, and there are many versions of it. She also says it’s best to use double-sided paper for this particular design because most pocket folds show both sides of the paper, depending on the cuts. She cut the pull-out card base from pink cardstock and adhered a panel of white cardstock to it. She embellished this pull-out card with sentiment stickers, scalloped borders (punched with a scallop border punch), and green pinstripe stickers. She added another border strip across the bottom which she cut from one of the papers along with several iridescent gemstones.
