Project Inspiration for May Kit
We’re so excited to present our May layout and craft ideas created by our fabulous Design Team members using our My Happy Place Collection Kit by Doodlebug Double.
Adopted Scrapbooking Layout
She started this layout by building a strong base with the scalloped background, which frames everything so nicely. The photos were matted to stand out, and a large dog paw cut on the Silhouette Cameo adds the perfect playful focal point. The bold “Adopted!” title instantly draws attention, layered with fun colors and textures that match the heartwarming theme. For the finished page, she used April’s sketch as inspiration but made it her own along the way. The mix of embellishments from the kit and extras brings everything together, while the added flowers give the layout soft dimension and charm. Popping up the center circle die cut adds depth, and the sweet little details throughout help tell the story of a very special new beginning.
Mom & Son Scrapbooking Layout
Marci started this layout by pairing a beautifully patterned background with a double-matted photo, then added a torn strip of black-and-white cardstock to create contrast and draw attention to the center of the page. The layered papers give the design extra texture while allowing the colorful collection to shine. To finish the layout, she created a playful title using April's alphabet letters and stickers from the main sticker sheet, accented with a few flowers from the extras package. Dimensional embellishments, including popped-up word die cuts, hearts, and stickers, surround the photo to add depth and movement. A tucked-in "Cherish the Moments" sentiment, colorful arrow stickers, and the fun squiggly sticker complete the page with cheerful details that guide the eye across the design.
Happy Days Peek-A-Boo Slider Card Layout
Leslie created a peek-a-boo slider card featuring papers and stickers from this month’s collection. Doodlebug Design never disappoints with its bright and bold colors, and the coordination of these items makes it super easy to create interactive cards! She cut the front, center, and back card base pieces from two colors of green cardstock in her stash. She cut layering panels from coordinating prints in the collection and used 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" circle punches for the apertures. She also used a circle die to cut the sentiments that are seen peeking through the apertures. She cut the back panel from white cardstock and embellished it with a strip of cardstock used on the inside. She stamped a congrats sentiment in two green inks using the rock-and-roll stamping technique, and finished it off with some shimmer on the letters.
Tri Fold Hidden Door Fun Fold Layout
Leslie created another fun fold for us this month. This tri-fold hidden door card features papers and stickers from this month’s collection. The playful, bold, and bright colors really yield some amazing results when creating projects, and the possibilities are endless! She cut the card base pieces from black cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in this month's collection. She trimmed a journaling card to use for the focal image on the front flap, semi-notched the corners, and added a couple of holographic pinstripe stickers from her stash. She used more patterned paper from the collection for the inside panels as well as white cardstock for the center one, and added a variety of stickers from the sticker sheet.
Casual Shirt Card Layout
Leslie created a fun thank-you shirt card featuring patterned papers and stickers from this month’s collection, along with a floral embellishment from the upgrades. Using her own shirt card template, she cut the card base and sleeve panels from teal cardstock, then layered coordinating patterned papers to create a polished, casual-style design. She finished the card with clear enamel dots for the buttons, a sentiment sticker, and a jeweled floral embellishment for a touch of sparkle. Inside, she added a layered sentiment panel using a journaling card from the kit, and included a hidden score line beneath the collar so the card folds closed neatly.
Flower Pot Card Layout
Leslie created a flower pot card featuring a playful plaid print from this month’s collection and quite a few floral embellishments from the upgrades. She cut the card base and pull-up card from pink cardstock along with a panel of plaid paper from the collection to decorate the pot, then used a scallop edge punch to embellish the rim. She tied green seam binding ribbon around the pot and added a sentiment sticker. She adhered a panel of white cardstock to the pull-up card before layering jeweled floral embellishments to create a full bouquet, adding two circular pieces of acetate behind the flowers for support. A final sentiment sticker on the pull-up card completed this cheerful floral design.
Friendship Pocket Card Layout
Leslie created a friendship pocket card from a single piece of double-sided paper in this month’s collection, along with stickers from the sticker sheet and a floral embellishment from the upgrades. She says the pocket card is one of the easiest fun folds to make, and there are many versions of it. She also says it’s best to use double-sided paper for this particular design because most pocket folds show both sides of the paper, depending on the cuts. She cut the pull-out card base from pink cardstock and adhered a panel of white cardstock to it. She embellished this pull-out card with sentiment stickers, scalloped borders (punched with a scallop border punch), and green pinstripe stickers. She added another border strip across the bottom which she cut from one of the papers along with several iridescent gemstones.
Happy Poe Scrapbooking Layout
Melissa created this adorable layout to celebrate her sweet cat, Poe, and his hilarious love for cardboard boxes and packing paper. She built the page around a favorite photo of him lounging on a box as if it belonged to him, capturing one of those everyday moments that always brings a smile. To make the memory even more personal, she incorporated some of Poe's actual packing paper into the design, adding a fun mixed-media touch with real meaning. Thoughtful layering, playful embellishments, and cozy textures help tell the story of a curious cat who proves that sometimes the simplest things make the best toys—and the most treasured scrapbook memories.
Making Memories Scrapbooking Layout
Melissa documented a sweet ice cream adventure by capturing each step of the experience, from the first bite to the last. She built the layout with plenty of layered 3" x 4" journaling cards and patterned papers from the kit, creating a fun, colorful design that perfectly complements the playful photos. The layered papers add depth and visual interest while helping each photo stand out. Coordinating embellishments and cheerful details tie everything together, turning a simple outing for ice cream into a delightful memory that is both vibrant and full of personality.
So Happy Together Scrapbooking Layout
Meggy created this eye-catching layout by layering four 3" x 4" photos over coordinating patterned papers, allowing the design to highlight favorite memories while keeping everything balanced. She used a bold background paper with two complementary accent papers to build dimension, adding inked edges throughout for extra definition and a polished finish. To complete the page, Meggy added banner clusters, border stickers, arrows, hearts, and phrase stickers to lead the eye across the layout. Stamped floral accents, a large title embellished with sequins, and a journaling piece from the upgrade kit bring the design together, creating a fun and vibrant page filled with texture, movement, and personality.
