Project Inspiration for September kit

We’re so excited to present our September layout and craft ideas created by our fabulous Design Team members using our collection Boho Sunshine by Simple Stories.

SMILE BIG SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Samantha Taylor

September’s kit is bursting with sunshine, and Sam is absolutely loving it! The versatility of this kit is what really stands out, making it ideal for creating travel, spring, summer, or even fall layouts. For this particular layout, Sam used photos from a summer trip. Starting with bold diagonal stripe paper, she originally thought of using it as the base. However, Sam opted for the cheerful yellow dot paper instead and used the diagonal stripe to create two large corner frames. To frame her photos, she chose the turquoise floral paper, adding a pop of color. A journaling tag, cut from one of the kit’s sheets, tied everything together. Sam completed the layout by embellishing it with stickers from the base kit only, giving it a fun and cohesive feel.

RAINBOWS SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Samantha Taylor

As soon as Sam laid eyes on September’s kit, she knew it would be perfect for scrapping her rainbow photos from summer. The skies at her vacation home are always beautiful, but two nights in a row, she captured some stunning rainbow skies. For this layout, Sam began with the happy sun paper as her base. She then layered a square of wavy colorblock paper, measuring 11 1/4", which gave the layout a flow that echoed the rainbow theme. The mini sun paper was used to frame the photos before being placed on the layout. A journaling tag, cut from the tag paper, provided the perfect spot for Sam’s notes. She finished it off with stickers, rub-ons, and ephemera from both the base kit and the upgraded embellishment kit.

YELLOWSTONE SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Samantha Taylor

During a series of college visits this summer, Sam and her family took a scenic drive through Yellowstone. One of her favorite photos from the trip was a family shot taken in front of the Roosevelt Arch at the North entrance. The colors in the photo matched perfectly with September’s kit. For the base, Sam selected the busy word print paper but balanced it with a calm orange X paper cut to 7" x 5". To frame the photo, she chose the half sun paper, which she added to the layout along with vertical paper scraps for grounding. After adding a journaling tag, Sam finished the layout with stickers and ephemera from the upgraded embellishment kit, creating a vibrant and meaningful tribute to the trip.

BE HAPPY SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Melissa Bierlein

Melissa started with white cardstock (not in the kit) and used a punch to create paper shapes from the kit, arranging them in the upper left and lower right for a diagonal effect. She layered the small half suns paper on black cardstock and placed her trimmed photos slightly askew, centering the best one. For embellishments, she added strip journaling from the sticker sheet, cardstock pieces, and rub-on moons and stars around the title, finishing with a sun sticker from the upgrades.

BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOU SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Melissa Bierlein

Melissa started with a sheet from the kit for the background, loving how it made the green in the photos pop. She used a strip of tags from the tag paper, mounting two photos vertically, and replaced a girly tag with a wood grain one to suit the boy layout. After adding ribbon and twine, she mounted the tag strip with foam tape and added a scallop sticker strip and another photo to the right. A vertical cluster of chipboard embellishments from the upgrade pack formed the title area, with a round chipboard piece at the top of the tag strip. To finish, Melissa added a banner from the sticker sheet below the photo and a cute giraffe rub-on above the center photo.

BACK TO SCHOOL SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Emiley Steinbruegge

Emiley created a vibrant "Back to School" layout using a sunny background from the kit, perfectly complementing the playful photos of her kids. She arranged the photos in a grid pattern, showcasing each child’s first-day look. The bold title "Back to School" stands out with a mix of stickers and embellishments, adding a fun and energetic vibe. Emiley added a journaling tag with the date and each child's grade, along with layered flower embellishments for dimension. Finishing touches included a large sunburst sticker and plant motifs to tie everything together.

HER LAST FIRST DAY SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Emiley Steinbruegge

For this layout, Emiley celebrated her daughter's "Last First Day" with a vibrant and joyful design. She started by layering colorful tags at the top, featuring positive phrases like "Good Vibes" and "You are my Sunshine," adding texture with twine accents. The scalloped border and rainbow pattern brought warmth and a playful touch, complementing the fun photos of her daughter ready for her senior year. Emiley used the bold title "Her Last First Day" with a mix of fonts and colors to highlight the milestone. The layout was finished with floral embellishments and a sunburst, giving it a bright, celebratory feel.

DO YOUR OWN THING SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

Emiley Steinbruegge

For this playful layout, Emiley embraced a "Do Your Own Thing" theme with a colorful grid of fun icons and patterns from the kit. She added photos of her cat with quirky embellishments like googly eyes, enhancing the lighthearted vibe. The layout’s cheerful mood is further highlighted by butterflies, smiley faces, and positive phrases like "Good Vibes Only" and "You Are Golden." Emiley created dimension by layering chipboard elements and stickers, making the grid pop with texture. Finishing touches include a retro van and flowers, tying the playful and carefree theme together perfectly.
