August, the last breath of summer and the hottest time of the year. Here are fun summer scrapbook layouts from our awesome Design Team members. These summer scrapbook layouts were made from our August 2021 kit, Life Is Sweet by ScrapbookingStore.

1. Life Is Sweet by Marci Bensing

This layout is what Marci considers as her base project for this month. She chose her photos, background paper and she cut the dot and "here's the scoop" strip and adhered everything. She cut-apart "Life is sweet" and the journaling oval. Then, she placed them middle and to the right of the photos.

Marci loves TWINE and probably uses it on 90% of her layouts. For this project, she used it to border her photos and to border the cut-a parts. Next, she goes around the page and embellished it. She used something from every part of the provided embellishments. As for the upper left, Marci used pop dots and popped up "yes please" and "all smiles" and put them on a piece of cardstock from her stash. She cut into a banner and decorated that banner with stars.

She used the border strips (rainbows and hearts) to frame the cut-a-parts on the right. Next, she placed the bird, twine bow with heart in the center, and popped "hooray" on the "SWEET" cut-apart to create the title. Finally, she placed arrows pointing in random directions around the journaling that she typed and placed in the oval area. 2. You Are The Sweetest by Megan Blethen

Megan cut out the melting ice cream background paper, flipped it over and glued it to the other side of her layout. Then, she cut out a melting ice cream shape with a different background and glued it at the top of the melting ice cream cone. The titles used were from cut files and were backed up with white cardstock from her stash. She used background paper to cut out the inside of title letters.

Next, she photos to desired size ( 3.5x3.5) and added it to the layout above title. She then added embellishment cluster on the top right corner. Also, she added another embellishment cluster to the left side of the layout. Finally, she embellished the title and the photos. Voila, you’re all done!

3. Homemade Ice Cream by Melissa Bierlein

Here is Melissa's Homemade Ice Cream layout ~ their family's favorite! The background was a blue cardstock from her stash. She cut patterned paper from the kit at 6X12” and cut stripe patterned paper from the kit at 1/2” X 12”. Then, she arranged the patterned paper on the blue cardstock with the 1/2” strips on either side.

Melissa matted the two photos with cardstock and patterned paper from the August  kit. The larger photo was adhered with foam dots. Next, she cut the ice cream cone in pink cardstock on Cricut from Cricut design space and adhered it under the smaller photo and into the title area.

Then, she cut layered a journaling booklet from the Cricut design space and added it to the right side of the layout. She added journaling to the front and her Mom’s secret homemade ice cream recipe to the inside. Also, she added a rice rack from her stash to the edges of the 1/2” paper.

Melissa added thickers are from a previous kit on the title area. As for the banner area: the ICE CREAM alphas came from her stash. The photos show the old ice cream maker and new ice cream maker. Finally, she embellished the entire layout with all types of goodies from the upgrades! Don't forget to check Melissa's blog to see more scrapbooking layout ideas.

4. Summer Lovin' Layout by Samantha Taylor

The colors in the August collection are so bright and fun. The bright colors were the perfect contrast to a dark indoor photo Sam took over the 4th of July weekend.

Sam started with the solid striped paper as her base. Then, she attached a 9 1/4" x 9 1/4" piece of pink dot paper to the base. Next, she cut a white stripe and white dot paper to a 6" square.

She cut those squares diagonally to create 2 triangles from each square, a total of 4 triangles in all. Also, she arranged those triangles with the points facing in to create a new, larger square. Next, she added a journaling tag and her photo to the center of the layout. Finally, she added embellishments from the included sticker sheet and the upgraded embellishment kit.

5. Pineapple Layout

Sam and her husband have a long-standing joke about cutting up pineapples. She happened to have this photo of her with a very large pineapple that she sent to her husband a while back.

When she saw the August kit papers, she knew they would be a fun way to tell the pineapple story. This layout also showcases what you can make with just the base kit. The included stickers are especially fun, as they have some glitter on them.

She chose and layered her background paper and chose papers that go well with her background and photo. Then, she added journaling at the lower left of her layout, Finally, she added embellishments from the upgrades. This was a very simple and easy layout to follow from!
